A project to promote all of Lazio’s olive-growing production with a brand recognisable worldwide: Olio di Roma PGI. The brand that will identify quality oils produced in Lazio is finally about to receive recognition from the European Commission.
Lazio currently has 4 oils with protected designation of origin (Sabina, Tuscia, Canino, Colline Pontine), but over 10,000 hectares of olive-growing land do not benefit from any brand certifying and protecting their territorial origin.
“The goal of the Olio di Roma PGI project is to overcome this fragmentation and promote the origin and quality of all regional productions – explains David Granieri – Demand for certified-quality, certain-origin extra virgin olive oil is constantly growing, and an easily recognisable brand, closely linking product and territory, can be a concrete help for businesses competing in the market”.
