Product Certifications

Product certifications represent the instrument through which OP LATIUM commits to exceeding regulatory requirements and applies stricter quality standards to its products, controlled by accredited Control Bodies.

Product Certifications of OP LATIUM

  • Protected Designation of Origin (PDO): Certifies that Sabina DOP and Tuscia DOP olive oil produced by OP LATIUM comes exclusively from olive groves within the designated production area, ensuring that the oil’s processing, chemical, physical, and organoleptic characteristics, as well as its entire production cycle, are regulated by a Production Specification recognized by the Italian State and the European Union.
  • Protected Geographical Indication (PGI): Certifies that OP LATIUM’s Roma PGI olive oil is obtained exclusively from olives cultivated and milled within the designated production area at certified facilities. The processing takes place in the same area, and its chemical, physical, and organoleptic characteristics, as well as its entire production cycle, are governed by a Production Specification recognized by the Italian State and the European Union.

Process Certifications of OP LATIUM

Process certifications concern the production process requirements that food suppliers must meet in order to reach all potential stakeholders (e.g., consumers, trade associations, public bodies, schools, canteens, etc.). These certifications ensure that the certified products have been manufactured according to precise standards that improve production conditions and process safety.

  • UNI EN ISO 22005:07 Supply Chain Traceability Applied to olive oil and table olives, traceability ensures the identification of the responsibility requirement, based on the knowledge of all operators who contributed to producing a specific batch, and, if necessary, the controls conducted on that batch. Supply chain traceability ensures the monitoring of all transformations and movements that a product undergoes throughout its entire supply chain and production history. The traceability system monitors the following elements: Olive suppliers Date of delivery and storage of olives before processing Processing phases, drying, washing, milling batch, malaxation batch Processing and bottling locations Oil storage details Blending batch details Final product storage Quantity of oil delivered to each customer
  • Sustainable Extra Virgin Olive Oil (DTP 125): This certification is held by OP LATIUM for its main production facility. The “Sustainable Extra Virgin Olive Oil” DTP125 standard, managed by CSQA, originates from the desire to produce EVO oil while applying the best known practices to ensure a truly broad definition of sustainable production. The standard takes into account

    economic,
    social,
    market, nutritional, and health dimensions.
  • JAS JAPAN: The JAS (Japan Agricultural Standard) is the regulation for organic agri-food products in Japan. Operators wishing to export organic agri-food products to Japan must obtain JAS certification from an accredited body (RFCO – Registered Foreign Certification Organisation), registered with the MAFF, the Ministry of Agriculture of Japan.
  • KOSHER: Kosher-certified products are foods that comply with the dietary laws of Kashrut (Jewish dietary law). This dietary law is primarily derived from Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14:1-21. Foods that can be consumed according to Halakha (Jewish law) are referred to as Kosher (/ˈkɒʃər/).
  • 100% High Italian Quality: OP LATIUM Olive Oil This oil complies with the 100% High Italian Quality standard, promoted by Unaprol, which sets stricter requirements than current regulations.
  • Organic Production: This certification is held by OP LATIUM for its main production facility. In organic farming, no synthetic chemicals are used (fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and pesticides in general) nor genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Crop protection is primarily preventive through the selection of species resistant to disease and the use of appropriate agronomic techniques, such as: Crop rotation, Planting hedges and trees, Intercropping (simultaneous cultivation of different plant species). In organic farming, natural fertilizers such as manure and other organic substances are used, incorporated into the soil at appropriate times. If necessary, natural substances are used for crop protection.
  • BRC & IFS Certifications: These certifications were obtained by OP LATIUM for its main production facility. BRC and IFS are two fundamental international standards for quality certification in the supply chain of products for Large-Scale Retailers (GDO). BRC (British Retail Consortium): Required by British large-scale retailers. Based on quality standards that focus on HACCP self-control, workplace safety, and production process controls. IFS (International Food Standard): Developed by the French and German GDO sectors. More stringent than BRC, it requires: Compliance with hygienic standards Good manufacturing practices Detailed traceability and safety procedures. Companies certified under IFS declare that their management goes beyond HACCP principles, with strict requirements in infrastructure, personnel training, and quality control of processes and products.
  • UNI EN ISO 9001 Quality Management System: This certification defines the minimum requirements that the Quality Management System of OP LATIUM must meet to ensure the declared level of product quality for both the company itself and the market. The ISO 9001 standard is currently the most recognized international standard, applicable to any organization, regardless of size, type, or economic sector. OP LATIUM has established, documented, implemented, and maintained an active quality management system, with the aim of ensuring continuous improvement in effectiveness and compliance with quality standards.
