The merger process through which the historic cooperatives “Colli Sabini” of Palombara Sabina (RM) and “Farfense” of Castelnuovo di Farfa (RI) were incorporated into OP LATIUM was completed early Thursday afternoon, 17 December, at the Rome offices of Coldiretti Lazio.
The project, launched a few months ago with a unanimous policy resolution by the respective Boards of Directors and then shared and confirmed by the general meetings of the members of the cooperatives themselves, fits fully within the growth strategy pursued by OP LATIUM, aimed at strengthening the role and effectiveness of its cooperative mission across the regional territory.
The final agreement, signed by OP LATIUM president David Granieri and by those of Coop. Colli Sabini – Torquato Bevilacqua – and Coop. Farfense – Enzo Burbuglini – in the presence of Coldiretti Lazio Director Aldo Mattia, formally seals a collaboration that was, moreover, already largely consolidated, whose concrete evidence is the complete renovation of the Palombara Sabina production facility, where activity is still proceeding at full capacity, thanks also to a decidedly generous olive campaign.
“Today is an important day for all of us.” – declares a satisfied President Granieri – “We have worked from the start to unite, involve and thereby give strength to the producers, firmly supporting the central role of the cooperatives and their roots in the local area. This merger represents a great growth opportunity for everyone and encourages us to keep moving in this direction, to change the face of our olive growing and win the recognition deserved by those who work to produce true Italian quality.
OP LATIUM already represented the largest Olive-Growing Producer Organisation in Lazio, both in terms of the number of members represented and hectares of olive groves. With this merger, and with the further extraordinary operations we are carrying forward, we will also become the region’s largest processing entity.”
