Six days of events, from the international workshop dedicated to consumption to the Yale International Symposium with the most authoritative figures from the institutional, scientific and economic world, through to the Evootrends markets and guided tasting itineraries to discover the virtues and quality of a product extraordinary for both taste and health.
This and much more will be the International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Week, scheduled in Rome from 13 to 18 September.
Coldiretti, Unaprol, Fondazione Evoo School, in collaboration with Regione Lazio, the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Fiera di Roma, Fondazione Campagna Amica, Roma Capitale Metropolitan City and Agenzia ICE and the World Farmers Markets Coalition, will be the protagonists of the international workshop on extra virgin olive oil consumption during the first three days of the event.
In particular, on Tuesday 13th at 10:30 AM, the opening ceremony of the event will take place at Palazzo Rospigliosi, attended among others by Coldiretti President Ettore Prandini, Secretary General Vincenzo Gesmundo, Minister of Agriculture Stefano Patuanelli, EU Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski, and Unaprol President David Granieri.
During the day there will follow in-depth sessions on the international context of extra virgin olive oil and on the future of oil tourism.
On Wednesday 14th, instead, starting from 10:30 AM, again at Palazzo Rospigliosi, two in-depth sessions on the perception of extra virgin olive oil in the consumer world and on how information can help consumers understand the product’s extraordinary qualities.
On Thursday 15th the workshop moves to Palazzo Valentini for the last two sessions, dedicated to the relationship between oil and health, attended by some of the most authoritative voices from the scientific and academic world, and to the outlook on international markets, with a discussion between representatives of the leading large-scale retail chains, the production world and the oil industry.
The last three days of the International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Week, on the other hand, will be entirely dedicated to the Yale International Symposium, organised by Yale University in collaboration with the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the University of Bari Aldo Moro, bringing together academics, organisations and industry to increase synergy between science, technology and culture to tackle climate change and the health of the planet.
During the International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Week, which will also see the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Ercole Olivario national competition, every day from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at GARUM – Library and Museum of Cuisine (Boscolo Circo Massimo), Via dei Cerchi, 8, with the Evootrends Markets, Fiera di Roma’s annual event, consumers and citizens will have the chance, free of charge, to get to know some of the most important olive-growing businesses in Lazio and take an experiential journey, guided by experts from Fondazione Evoo School, covering the entire olive-growing production of Lazio with its 4 PDOs (Sabina, Canino, Tuscia, Colline Pontine), joined last year by the new Protected Geographical Indication, Olio di Roma PGI, which in a short time has gained unprecedented recognition and appreciation on national and international markets.
