Curiosity, interest and desire to learn more: these are the main feelings of those who participate in our initiatives dedicated to Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
A growing number of people, not just experts or insiders, are no more surprised when we propose the oil tasting “by the glass” and the awareness that “bitter” and “spicy” are positive attributes – index of quality and healthiness of the product – gradually increases.
The guided tastings held last Saturday, May 7, at the Teatro Rivellino of Tuscania (Vt), using about ten different locally sourced oils, confirmed this trend: making comparisons between oils obtained from different cultivars or from olives collected in different periods and discovering the different intensity of fruity of oils coming from different regions can be a fun game, accessible to anyone with a small initial guide.
During the same day, while guided tastings were occurring in the foyer, expert speakers alternated on the stage of the theater, offering a concise, but clear and complete overview of the main aspects that should be taken into account to really know extra virgin olive oil.
The contribution of OP LATIUM was given by General Director, Dr. Francesco Bosio, who stressed that the final quality of the product intended for consumption depends primarily on the proper conduct of agricultural and transforming operations carried out in the fields and in the olive mills.
For this reason OP LATIUM, which has the improvement of quality and enhancement of the products among its main objectives, intends to continue and enforce its technical assistance initiatives, also through innovative tools such “www.agroambientelazio.it ” its online tool supporting the fight against the pests of the olives.
This activity is realized within a campaign funded with contributions from the European Union and Italy Reg.UE 611/14 Activity 3 Action 3D – 2nd year 2016-2017.
